Congratulations on creating and building your amazing company “Honest“! How did the company start and how has it evolved since the beginning? Did you feel there was a large void for toxic-free and eco-friendly baby products out in the market?

JESSICA: When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I sought the best products for her because I wanted to create a healthy home for my baby. Easier said than done! When I washed her clothes in the popular “baby-safe” laundry detergent everyone recommended, I broke out in a rash. If I had such a bad allergic reaction, I knew it couldn’t be good for a new baby. Then I had trouble finding reliable healthy products here in the United States so I would end up shopping online, buying non-toxic products from Australia and Europe, or from different health stores just to clean my house and bathe my child. It was too time consuming and so expensive. I was really upset that the average family couldn’t easily find or purchase safe products at a reasonable price so I created The Honest Company with Christopher Gavigan, Brian Lee, and Sean Kane because as concerned parents, we felt it was our mission to make healthy, non-toxic products accessible for children and families everywhere. It’s been exciting to work together and watch Honest grow over the past year, expanding to include gifting, home fragrance, kitchen accessories, and more.

What are some of your favorite eco-friendly household products to use throughout your home?

JESSICA: I love all of our Honest cleaning products! From the natural Bathroom Cleaner, to our Laundry Detergent, to our Dishwasher Pods, Honest is the highest-performing and most beautiful line of non-toxic cleaning products on the market. Most importantly, I know they’re safe and that the simple act of cleaning my home won’t make my family sick. This is especially important when you have toddlers who touch, crawl, and play over every surface!

You have such an amazing eye for fashion and style. Do you have any eco-friendly fashion and/or beauty lines that you love wearing?

JESSICA: I love the eco-friendly beauty line Hourglass. Nothing beats a glam lip for a fancy night out, and Hourglass has the best orange and red pigments that I can’t live without. Koh Gen Do is another favorite—from foundation to loose powder to concealer palettes, it is such a great line. Its hydration face mask and eye cream are hands down the best for my skin while traveling. I also love Honoré des Prés fragrance, which is free of phthalates and other questionable ingredients. My favorite scent is Vamp a NY. And Honest Lip Balm, Hand Sanitizer, Travel Wipes, and sample size Healing Balm are a mainstay in my bag or night clutch.

We see there’s much more than just baby products as part of the Honest line (ex. lip balms, face and body lotions, sunscreens, candles etc). What are some of your favorite products that have come from the Honest line and which ones do you find yourself using the most?

JESSICA: While it’s hard to choose, my beauty routine isn’t complete without using the Honest Body Oil. My favorite trick is to mix the Body Oil with our Face & Body Lotion for an extra-moisturizing boost. I also swear by the Healing Balm, which is a cure-all for everything—dry skin, scars, blemishes, wrinkles, you name it! Our Shampoo + Body Wash is a family favorite, too. My kiddos, husband, and I all use it. To me, there is no better product out there that delights the whole family (and it’s safe for mom’s color treated hair).

Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Weinstein Company announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of the family film Escape from Planet Earth. This fantastic, comedy- adventure crosses all galaxies to entertain the entire family with an all-star vocal cast including Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, William Shatner, George Lopez, Craig Robinson, Sofía Vergara, Jane Lynch, Steve Zahn, Chris Parnell, Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry and Ricky Gervais.

In Escape from Planet Earth, Planet Baab’s most celebrated space traveler, Scorch Supernova (voiced by Brendan Fraser), is a global hero whose interplanetary exploits are televised for the enjoyment of his ardent fans. With the help of his brainy brother Gary (Rob Corddry), head BASA Mission Control, Scorch has become a legend, winning the love of beautiful television reporter Gabby Babblebrock (Sofía Vergara) and the devotion of Gary’s hero-worshipping son Kip (Jonathan Morgan Heit).

When BASA’s no-nonsense chief, Lena (Jessica Alba), intercepts a distress signal from the Dark Planet, a notoriously dangerous world in the far reaches of the universe, Scorch jumps at the chance to attempt the once-in-a-lifetime rescue mission. But Gary tries to discourage his bother from making the trip, knowing that no intergalactic explorer has ever returned from the faraway world (also known as Earth). Scorch realizes too late that he has been lured into a deadly ambush set by the power-crazed paramilitary leader General Shanker (William Shatner). When the trap snaps shut, imprisoning Scorch and some of the most brilliant minds in the universe, Gary rushes to their aid. What he discovers is a plot of interplanetary proportions that only his brains and Scorch’s brawn can stop.
